Take a walk around the Urban Forestry Center

3.2 miles from Tide House

Just a short drive from the condo, the Urban Forestry Center is a great spot to take your dog for a walk and enjoy a picnic. There are picnic tables available, but you can also bring a blanket becasue there’s plenty of open space. The trail winds through the woods, offering a peek of the ocean bay before looping back around to the entrance of the park. It’s also a fun place for kids to explore, with labeled trees showcasing different species found in New Hampshire—great for a little outdoor learning. The park is especially stunning in the Fall when the leaves are changing. Just a heads-up, it is a dog-friendly park, but leashes are required.

Enjoy food and drink at Smuttynose Brewing Company

12.5 miles from Tide House

If you love dining out with your furry friends, this might just be one of the best spots on the Seacoast. Smuttynose Brewing has an awesome vibe, tons of seating both indoors and out, and a great selection of local beers on tap. If you are feeling adventurous you can check out the Tasting Bar and sample a flight of your favorites—dogs are totally welcome too. The patio is open from April to late October, with live music every week. Plus, if you're planning a fun night with friends or family, you can reserve a firepit that seats up to 10 people. It's a perfect way to kick back and enjoy an evening.

Off leash walking paths at Pierce Island

1.5 miles from Tide House

Pierce Island is just a short walk from the condo and a perfect excuse to get your steps in. If you're already out strolling downtown with your pup, head past Prescott Park and cross the bridge to Pierce Island. It’s only 27 acres, but it’s packed with walking paths, playgrounds, and awesome water views. The best part is that the trails here are off-leash, so your dog can roam freely—just stick to the marked paths and avoid fenced areas. It’s one of the few off-leash spots in Portsmouth, so it’s definitely worth checking out. If you're there you might also want to check out Four Tree Island, just after the bridge. It’s an awesome picnic spot with plenty of tables and stunning ocean views.

Walks through Wagon Hill Farm

7.9 miles from Tide House

Wagon Hill is just a 15-minute drive from the condo and totally worth the trip.  Located in Durham, NH, it’s a fantastic spot to let your pups burn off some energy. The 139-acre property has wooded trails that lead to the water, offering awesome views. There are a few picnic tables, but you can also pack a blanket and relax by the water while your pup hops in for a swim. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk to the water and the trails loop through the woods and back into the fields. If you forgot snacks, Emery Farms is right across the street and has an amazing market and café. Their donuts are some of the best I’ve ever had. On a sunny day, this is a spot you and your pups will absolutely love.

Hike the Rockingham Rail Trail

34.0 miles from Tide House

If you and your pup love the outdoors, the Rockingham Rail Trail is an 18-mile wooded trail running from Windham to Epping, NH. Dogs are welcome, but they’ll need to stay on a leash. This trail is easy with minimal uphill sections and is also used by snowmobilers and cross-country skiers during the winter season so might be worth checking out in the off season. You can check out a map here to plan how much of the trail you want to explore. And if you’re looking for more adventures, NH State Parks has tons of hikes, trails, and parks to explore all over New Hampshire.
